The Head O State: Obama Sex Toy

Ever since the election ended, companies have been trying to cash in on the Obama phenomenon. We’ve seen Obama soap, special edition comic books, trading cards and damn near everything in between. It’s to the point that a friend recently commented: “we don’t need a stimulus plan, Obama IS the stimulus plan!” Yet, despite all of the cashing-in going on, I’m sure no one was prepared for the arrival of an Obama sex toy.

I stumbled across this faux Nike ad the other day and I thought it was great. Yes, I said “faux Nike ad” because this is not part of a real ad campaign. Actually, I was told the copy IS from a Nike campaign. The real ad however, featured only the copy with no photo accompanying it.

I for one wish this “faux ad” by Pudge Photos was used in an ad campaign. Honestly, I can’t think of the last Latina I saw in a mainstream Nike ad, this would help with that lack of representation. Better yet, a campaign featuring a variety of women of color, of all shapes and sizes…  like that Dove Campaign for Real Beauty. Now that would be nice to see.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you all… strong message of self love, great photo. What’s not to like?

Make Love Not Porn

I recently read about this website; Make Love Not Porn and I decided to check it out for myself. The site’s purpose is to highlight the difference between “real world” sex and the sex often seen in adult movies, or “porn world” sex. It’s a simple, eye catching site with cute graphics and short, easy-to-read comparisons between the two types of sex they’ve established.

The Hitachi Magic Wand "Personal Massager"

A while back I asked my partner to dig into her toy box and pick one of her vibrators to review for us. She chose the Hitachi Magic Wand, so here now is her review:

Shortly after Bush’s departure, President Obama and our congressional leaders will begin the process of eliminating many of W’s harmful, ineffective and downright divisive policies. The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful, and (HIV) Positive

Back in September I wrote a short post about a book I planned on checking out; The Naked Truth: Young, Beautiful, and (HIV) Positive by Marvelyn Brown and Courtney E. Martin.

The book tells the story of Marvelyn Brown, a self described “everyday teen” from Nashville, Tennessee who contracts HIV at age 19. As a result of her diagnosis and the struggles (and successes) that followed, Marvelyn is now an internationally recognized author and Emmy Award winning HIV/AIDS educator and activist.
