About
It took me years to fully accept that the work I do is interesting to anyone but me and others in my field. When people would ask what I do, I generally responded with as brief and uninteresting an explanation as I could muster. I always figured people would either not care, be confused by my response or think that I was just plain ol’ weird. But not any more.
What do I do that is so interesting? I am an educator in the fields of sexual health and gender violence prevention and I specialize in working with males, particularly males-of-color. Being a Black male with such a unique skill set has allowed me to work with groups that people in my field rarely see, like:
- boys in youth detention centers
- men who’ve been court ordered to attend a batterer intervention program
- college student athletes
- professional athletes
- soldiers in the US military
So what does all that have to do with this blog? Well, my goal is to write about the strange, exciting and sometimes downright disturbing — but always interesting — things that I encounter while doing this work. I’ll also be posting my thoughts and opinions on topics related to sexual health & pleasure while commenting on related events in the news and society at large.
So, welcome to my blog! Thank you for joining me on this journey and please leave some feedback along the way.
